SANCTUARY COVE WILDLIFE PROJECT
Wildlife Illustration + Environmental Education
What began as a commission for eight original watercolour artworks grew into the largest creative project I had worked on to date. The brief was initially to capture some of the native wildlife found around Sanctuary Cove. That collection eventually expanded to 25 original artworks, before developing into a broader education project designed to help visitors and locals notice, understand and connect with the wildlife in their own backyard.
WHAT I CREATED
• 25 original hand-painted wildlife artworks
• Full brochure design
• Wildlife education content and visual storytelling
• Artwork and design for 15 interpretive signs
• A complete wildlife education walk throughout the Sanctuary Cove precinct
• Illustration assets developed across print and environmental applications

FROM 25 ARTWORKS TO A
COMPLETE WILDLIFE WALK
What started as a small collection of watercolour paintings grew well beyond the original scope.
The final project became a 15-sign wildlife education walk throughout Sanctuary Cove, using original artwork, information and storytelling to encourage people to slow down, look a little closer and appreciate the species living around them.
At its heart, the project was about creating connection — helping people notice the wildlife that can so easily become part of the background of everyday life.
THE IDEA BEHIND THE PROJECT
The intention was never simply to identify species. It was about encouraging a moment of curiosity — to stop, observe and become more aware of the wildlife sharing the landscape. That idea of noticing has become an important thread through my wildlife work and continues to influence the way I approach illustration today.
